Humans are social creatures. We need to have relationships with other people to help us meet our basic needs. Friends are there for us when we are in trouble, when we are sad, or just need to talk. And the best part of having friends is going out and having fun, whether it be dinner, a movie, or just hanging out. And to be fair, I listed everyone in random order. (I actually pulled the name out of a hat.)

Ginger
Ginger and I have had our moments. We first met during our Senior year of High School. Ginger lived in Thomasville, GA and I in Perrysburg, OH. We had both come to Agnes Scott for Achievement Weekend, which is held every year for those ASC prospectives who recived high scholarships. It gives a look at the school, classes, and fellow students. It was actually Ginger who came and talked to me first. We were in a focus group and she introduced herself (and if you knew Ginger, you would understand how strange this is). We e-mailed and chatted throughout the summer. Eventually we started a mailing list and survey for those ASC Class of 2002 students we could find. It was nice since most of us didnt know anyone else coming to school, so when we arrived we already knew a ton of people. We sort of formed a group of friends with our roommates (except me....evil evil Samra. There was Ginger, Me, Kristal, Briana, and Andria. By November, we all sorta started to seperate and find our own ways. It wasnt until Junior year that Ginger and I got close again. She was living down the hall from me and we started to hang out more and do things. Ginger has since transfered to Florida Tech in Melbourne, but we still talk via e-mail and IM. And I know we will be getting together again soon!
Amber
Amber was loosely part of our mailing list before Agnes Scott started. I met her freshman roommate Jamie on AOL and she introduced us to Amber. I remember thinking "Amber Brooke Raley" what a nice sounding roommmate..compared to the horrid roommate I had just had a phone call with. We met in person once the school year was underway. She lived on the far end of the hall, and we didnt really click at first. But as time went on, we grew into closer friends. We took a memorable Spring Break roadtrip that year with our friends in the band Trinket who were touring at the time. We decided to room together sophomore year. We hunted down rooms and lucked upon a gem corner room in Rebekah, which have have held captive for 3 years now. Not a whole lot has really changed in those 3 years, it looks pretty much the same, and completely feels like home. Amber isn't around all that much. Her boyfriend Matt lives about 1 minute up the road so most nights are spent there, but we still seem to get some good conversations in. And I must admit, I have the nicest and biggest single on campus!
Adam
I met Adam last year and we have been dating since the end of March. We both love hockey which was our first connection. I think he made the mistake of assuming that since I loved hockey, I loved most sports. He quickly learned I know nothing about the other sports, but I guess Im willing to learn. Adam works at Earthlink as a sofware engineer. He has no idea how cool I think his job is; while it isn't super exciting like a lion tamer, I think it is awesome all the stuff he can do with computers. My parents like him too, at least the sound of him since they have only had one dinner with him. But my dad not objecting is good. I think it is an especially good sign since he didnt mind me going to meet Adam in Orlando this summer or coming up to visit him. Being away from Atlanta for 3 months wasn't exactly great, but it sure does help me appreciate being back. Oh Adam just bought a Sheltie puppy, Roscoe. He is just the cutes and sweetest thing, even if it does hurt when he nibbles on my toes.
Liz
Liz and I met the first week of school. Agnes Scott seperates us into Focus groups... a chance to meet the other students and have an advisor (other than academic) and juniors and seniors to tell us the ways of the school. We were both put into the same group, with Stephanie Balmer (Director of Admission). We had this silly little thing where we had to put a word in front of our name that describes us and it need to have the first letter be the same or similar. Classical Kate and Lazy Liz were chosen. We still teasingly call each other that. Sophomore year we lived down the hall from each other and we would hang out a lot. Go to hockey games, Oz for pizza, the movies. Then she moved away Junior year to Inman and I didnt see her as much. But Yay, she is back once again just down the hall. No one can stay away from Rebekah for long. I think as we grow older we are learning more and more about ourselves and each others. And we are realizing how similar we are in many ways. Our fears and wants for the future are very similar, and it is nice to be able to have someone to talk to. Sure I have other friends who would listen, but it just isnt the same. They cant understand what stress and importance you place on things, unless they feel it too. It was funny, this summer Liz stayed at school, but we never got a chance to talk. But she is now using Live Journal so I was able to keep up with her life. And now that Im back, I still like to read it , just to get an insight about how she views things.
>Well those are my closest friends, or those who don't mind being mentioned on my site..you always have those who are paranoid about people knowing you are friends, so I respect their wishes to not be officially linked to me ;-).There are others like Mina, Jennifer, Rubya, Jessica and countless others who I value just as much. Without friends, life wouldn't be good... they are the blood that keep us goings. Thanks for being around guys!
